Limited, numbered (748 of 2000 copies printed) edition de luxe copy of The Age of Fable or Beauties of Mythology by Thomas Bulfinch (John D. Morris & Compnay, 1898). Revised and enlarged by J. Loughran Scott and with illustrations from a variety of sources. Very rare antique book, an instant classic of folklore & mythology, richly illustrated with 3/4 bound leather covers and decorative endpapers. Heavy wear to spine which has been taped by a previous owner. There appears to be some sort of text, possibly transposed from another source, beneath tape at center of spine. Chipping and heavy wear around the edges, especially to corners. Spine ends worn with top edge of spine nearly completely deteriorated. Sticker reside to back cover near base of joint. Several instances of split binding. Previous owner’s ex-libris sticker on FEP and inscription to first page, otherwise pages are unmarked though tanned. See photos for condition.
