Nippon Antique Pre 1921 Rising Sun Handpainted Violet Sugar Bowl. This beautiful covered sugar bowl is made of hand painted porcelain from Japan between the years 1911 and 1921. Nippon, another name for Japan, was used on their products until 1921. After that date, everything they imported to the USA had to say Japan. The blue Rising Sun Nippon mark is on the back of the piece.
The delicate hand painted design consists of purple and white violet flowers with green and yellow leaves and gold accent lines on white porcelain.
The piece is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. There is some wear to the gold accents on the piece and there is a scuff on the underside. Please see pictures for details.
The sugar bowl with the lid measures approximately 4 1/4"H and 7" from handle to handle.
